🍽️ Italian-style Meatloaf

Ingredients
- 500 g minced meat
- 1 roll (stale)
- 1 onion(s)
- 1 egg(s)
- salt and pepper
- basil (shredded)
- 100 g olives, black (pitted)
- 100 g tomato(es), dried (from the jar)
- 2 clove(s) of garlic (more to taste)
- 250 g mozzarella
- 100 g Parma ham (in thin slices)
Instructions
- 1. Place the minced meat in a large bowl.
- 2. Soak the bread roll in water until soft.
- 3. Finely chop the onion.
- 4. Add the onion to the meat along with the egg.
- 5. Squeeze the bread roll well.
- 6. Tear the bread roll into small pieces.
- 7. Add the bread pieces to the meat as well.
- 8. Knead everything thoroughly until you have a moldable dough.
- 9. Season the mixture generously.
- 10. Place plastic wrap on your work surface.
- 11. Press the dough into a rectangle about 30 x 20 cm and 1 cm thick.
- 12. Cut the olives into thin strips.
- 13. Cut the tomatoes into thin strips.
- 14. Chop the garlic.
- 15. Cut the mozzarella into small cubes.
- 16. Mix these ingredients well.
- 17. Spread the filling evenly over the meat dough.
- 18. Leave a border of about 2 cm free.
- 19. Carefully roll up the meat dough using the plastic wrap.
- 20. Place the roll on a baking sheet.
- 21. Make sure the dough does not tear.
- 22. Round off the ends of the roll slightly.
- 23. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 24. Wrap the ham around the meatloaf.
- 25. Ensure that it is completely covered.
- 26. Bake the meatloaf for about 30 to 40 minutes.
- 27. Remove the meatloaf from the baking sheet using a spatula.
- 28. Place it on a serving plate.
- 29. Serve it while still hot.
- 30. Fresh ciabatta bread or risotto goes well with it.
