  1. 1. Wash the apples under running water.
  2. 2. Carefully remove the core from the apples.
  3. 3. Mix the almonds, raisins, jam, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  4. 4. Fill the hollowed-out apples with the fruit mixture.
  5. 5. Press the filling down firmly with the handle of a cooking spoon.
  6. 6. Lightly grease a baking dish.
  7. 7. Place the filled apples into the prepared dish.
  8. 8. Place a small piece of margarine on top of each apple.
  9. 9. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  10. 10. Bake the apples for about 25 minutes.
  11. 11. Stir the cornstarch and egg yolk into two tablespoons of cold milk until smooth.
  12. 12. Bring the remaining milk, sugar, and vanilla sugar to a boil in a pot.
  13. 13. Pour the cornstarch-milk mixture into the boiling milk while stirring constantly.
  14. 14. Let the sauce boil briefly.
  15. 15. Serve the warm or cold sauce with the hot apples.
