🍽️ Oven Apples with Vanilla Sauce

Ingredients
- 4 Apples (preferably Boskoop)
- 50 g almond slivers
- 50 g raisins
- 4 tsp apricot jam (or honey)
- 1 pinch(es) cinnamon
- Margarine (for the dish and for the apples)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 egg yolk
- 0.5 Liter milk
- 20 g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
Instructions
- 1. Wash the apples under running water.
- 2. Carefully remove the core from the apples.
- 3. Mix the almonds, raisins, jam, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- 4. Fill the hollowed-out apples with the fruit mixture.
- 5. Press the filling down firmly with the handle of a cooking spoon.
- 6. Lightly grease a baking dish.
- 7. Place the filled apples into the prepared dish.
- 8. Place a small piece of margarine on top of each apple.
- 9. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 10. Bake the apples for about 25 minutes.
- 11. Stir the cornstarch and egg yolk into two tablespoons of cold milk until smooth.
- 12. Bring the remaining milk, sugar, and vanilla sugar to a boil in a pot.
- 13. Pour the cornstarch-milk mixture into the boiling milk while stirring constantly.
- 14. Let the sauce boil briefly.
- 15. Serve the warm or cold sauce with the hot apples.
