  1. 1. Melt 200 grams of bittersweet chocolate and 120 grams of butter in a bowl.
  2. 2. Stir the chocolate mixture and let it cool down slightly.
  3. 3. Crush the remaining chocolate into small pieces using a freezer bag.
  4. 4. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. 5. Beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla sugar until creamy.
  6. 6. Add the lukewarm chocolate mixture to the eggs.
  7. 7. Sift the flour mixture in gradually.
  8. 8. Stir everything gently into a smooth batter.
  9. 9. Fold in the remaining chocolate pieces.
  10. 10. Optionally, add a handful of chopped walnuts.
  11. 11. Grease a brownie baking pan (approx. 23 x 23 cm) with the remaining butter.
  12. 12. Pour the batter into the pan and smooth it out.
  13. 13. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  14. 14. Bake the brownies for 20 to 25 minutes on the middle rack.
  15. 15. Make sure the brownies stay moist and fudgy inside.
  16. 16. Stay by the oven from the 20-minute mark to find the right time.
  17. 17. Take the brownies out when the edges are deep dark brown.
  18. 18. Let the brownies cool down completely.
  19. 19. Optionally, spread them with milk chocolate coating.
  20. 20. Decorate them diagonally with white chocolate coating.
  21. 21. Cut them into 16 large squares or 32 smaller rectangles.
  22. 22. Let the brownies thaw briefly after freezing.
  23. 23. Serve them best with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
