🍽️ Crispy Spicy Tofu from the Air Fryer

Ingredients
- 400 g tofu (soft)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp ginger, fresh (grated)
- 0.75 tsp garlic powder
- 0.5 tsp paprika powder, smoked
- 0.5 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp potato starch
- oil spray (neutral)
Instructions
- 1. Take the tofu out of the packaging and let the liquid drain off.
- 2. Place the tofu on kitchen paper and pat it dry.
- 3. Change the kitchen paper several times and gently press the tofu with your hand to remove as much moisture as possible.
- 4. Make sure the tofu does not crumble, but press it firmly enough.
- 5. If you use firm tofu, you can alternatively press it for 15 minutes with a heavy pot.
- 6. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, freshly grated ginger, and the spices for the marinade to a bowl.
- 7. Gently mix the marinade ingredients together.
- 8. Cut the tofu into even cubes of about 2x2 cm.
- 9. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let the mixture sit for a short time so the tofu can absorb the flavors.
- 10. Sprinkle the starch evenly over the tofu cubes.
- 11. Gently fold in the starch so that all cubes are lightly dusted.
- 12. Lightly spray the basket of the air fryer with oil.
- 13. Distribute the tofu cubes loosely in the basket so that they do not overlap.
- 14. Lightly spray the tofu cubes with oil as well.
- 15. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C and cook the cubes for about 12 to 14 minutes until crispy.
- 16. Turn the tofu cubes once after half the cooking time so that they brown evenly all around.
- 17. Keep an eye on the tofu from about minute 10, as the cooking time may vary depending on the device.
- 18. Remove the tofu when it is nicely golden brown on the outside.
