🍽️ Crispy Grilled Cheese with Gherkins from the Air Fryer

Ingredients
- 2 slice/s white bread
- n. B. cheese ((e. g. Raclette, Gruyère, Cheddar, Provolone), approx. 50 - 70 g)
- 2 cornichon/s (sliced thinly)
- butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- 1. Slice the cheese into approximately 0.5 cm thick slices if it is not already pre-sliced.
- 2. Slice the gherkins into thin rounds.
- 3. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each toast slice.
- 4. Place the toast slices in the air fryer basket with the buttered side facing down.
- 5. Place the cheese slices in the center of the bread.
- 6. Distribute the gherkin slices evenly over the cheese.
- 7. Make sure to leave a small border around the filling so that nothing leaks out while melting.
- 8. Top with the second toast slice, ensuring the buttered side faces up.
- 9. Do not preheat the air fryer so the cheese has time to melt before the bread browns too quickly.
- 10. Set the air fryer to 170 °C and cook the sandwich for 15 minutes.
- 11. Carefully flip the sandwich after about 7 to 8 minutes so both sides become evenly crispy.
- 12. Keep an eye on the bread, as cooking time may vary by 1 to 2 minutes depending on your device.
- 13. Remove the finished sandwich and serve it immediately while the cheese is still melted.
