  1. 1. Cut the chicken breast into strips or small nuggets.
  2. 2. Fill buttermilk into a bowl and place the chicken pieces inside.
  3. 3. Let the chicken pieces marinate covered in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably 4 hours or overnight.
  4. 4. Mix all spices and the salt.
  5. 5. Grind the spice mixture finely using a mortar or an electric spice grinder.
  6. 6. Remove the chicken pieces from the buttermilk and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  7. 7. Place the dry chicken pieces into a clean bowl.
  8. 8. Add 4 to 5 heaped teaspoons of the spice mixture per 500 grams of chicken.
  9. 9. Mix the chicken pieces thoroughly with the spices.
  10. 10. Let the spice mixture work on the meat for 30 minutes.
  11. 11. Crush the cornflakes until they have a coarse crumb structure.
  12. 12. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl.
  13. 13. Dip each chicken piece individually into the whisked eggs.
  14. 14. Roll the egg-coated chicken pieces thoroughly in the crushed cornflakes.
  15. 15. Ensure that the chicken pieces are evenly and completely covered with the cornflakes.
  16. 16. Place the breaded chicken pieces carefully one by one into the basket of the air fryer.
  17. 17. Make sure the chicken pieces do not touch or overlap each other.
  18. 18. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C and cook the chicken pieces for 12 to 18 minutes.
  19. 19. Adjust the cooking time according to the size of the chicken pieces.
  20. 20. Turn the chicken pieces halfway through the cooking time to brown them evenly.
  21. 21. Optionally spray the breaded chicken pieces with a little oil before cooking for extra crispiness.
  22. 22. Work in batches if necessary, as the chicken pieces must not overlap.
  23. 23. Save the remaining spice mixture, as it is great for grilled whole chickens.
