🍽️ Crispy Airfryer Chicken Strips in KFC Style

Ingredients
- 500 g chicken breast fillet(s)
- 200 ml buttermilk
- 60 g cornflakes (unsweetened)
- 2 egg(s)
- 1 tbsp paprika powder
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp garlic granules
- 2 tsp pepper, white
- 1 tsp pepper, black
- 1 tsp onion granules
- 1 tsp celery salt
- 1 tsp oregano (dried)
- 1 tsp basil (dried)
- 1 tsp ginger powder
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- 1 tsp glutamate
Instructions
- 1. Cut the chicken breast into strips or small nuggets.
- 2. Fill buttermilk into a bowl and place the chicken pieces inside.
- 3. Let the chicken pieces marinate covered in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably 4 hours or overnight.
- 4. Mix all spices and the salt.
- 5. Grind the spice mixture finely using a mortar or an electric spice grinder.
- 6. Remove the chicken pieces from the buttermilk and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
- 7. Place the dry chicken pieces into a clean bowl.
- 8. Add 4 to 5 heaped teaspoons of the spice mixture per 500 grams of chicken.
- 9. Mix the chicken pieces thoroughly with the spices.
- 10. Let the spice mixture work on the meat for 30 minutes.
- 11. Crush the cornflakes until they have a coarse crumb structure.
- 12. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl.
- 13. Dip each chicken piece individually into the whisked eggs.
- 14. Roll the egg-coated chicken pieces thoroughly in the crushed cornflakes.
- 15. Ensure that the chicken pieces are evenly and completely covered with the cornflakes.
- 16. Place the breaded chicken pieces carefully one by one into the basket of the air fryer.
- 17. Make sure the chicken pieces do not touch or overlap each other.
- 18. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C and cook the chicken pieces for 12 to 18 minutes.
- 19. Adjust the cooking time according to the size of the chicken pieces.
- 20. Turn the chicken pieces halfway through the cooking time to brown them evenly.
- 21. Optionally spray the breaded chicken pieces with a little oil before cooking for extra crispiness.
- 22. Work in batches if necessary, as the chicken pieces must not overlap.
- 23. Save the remaining spice mixture, as it is great for grilled whole chickens.
