  1. 1. Wash the apples thoroughly under running water.
  2. 2. Peel the apples and remove the core.
  3. 3. Cut the apples into wedges or small quarters.
  4. 4. Grease a small springform pan (approx. 18 cm diameter) with some butter.
  5. 5. Dust the pan with a little flour or line it with baking paper.
  6. 6. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C.
  7. 7. Beat butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt in a bowl until creamy.
  8. 8. Add the eggs and continue beating until the mixture is airy.
  9. 9. Mix flour and baking powder and stir it slowly into the batter.
  10. 10. If the batter seems too thick, add a small splash of milk.
  11. 11. Pour the batter into the prepared springform pan.
  12. 12. Distribute the apple wedges evenly over the batter.
  13. 13. Optionally sprinkle some cinnamon over the apples.
  14. 14. Place the pan into the basket of the air fryer.
  15. 15. Bake the cake at 180 °C for 25 to 30 minutes.
  16. 16. Cover the cake with a small tray after half the time if it is browning too much.
  17. 17. Perform a skewer test after baking time to check for doneness.
  18. 18. Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes.
  19. 19. Dust the finished cake with powdered sugar.
