🍽️ Creamy Maultaschen Spinat Casserole

Ingredients
- 1 packet BÜRGER Maultaschen traditionally Swabian (at 360 g)
- 2 packets spinach leaves (frozen at 500 g)
- 1.5 Liter vegetable broth
- 500 g cherry tomatoes (on the vine)
- 1 onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp oil
- 80 ml dry white wine
- 300 g whipping cream
- 2 large eggs
- salt and pepper
- freshly grated nutmeg
- 200 g Gouda
- coarse pepper
Instructions
- 1. Let the spinach thaw.
- 2. Place the spinach in a colander.
- 3. Squeeze the spinach firmly to remove excess water.
- 4. Cook the Maultaschen (German dumplings) in boiling broth.
- 5. Follow the instructions on the package exactly.
- 6. Wash the tomatoes under running water.
- 7. Remove all tomatoes from one cluster.
- 8. Halve the individual tomatoes.
- 9. Keep the empty tomato cluster for later.
- 10. Peel the onion.
- 11. Cut the onion into small cubes.
- 12. Peel the garlic.
- 13. Chop the garlic finely.
- 14. Heat some oil in a pot.
- 15. Sauté the garlic and onion in it briefly.
- 16. Add the squeezed spinach.
- 17. Sauté the spinach for about 2 minutes.
- 18. Deglaze the vegetables with wine.
- 19. Add the cream.
- 20. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 21. Let the sauce simmer gently for about 2 minutes.
- 22. Fold the halved tomatoes into the spinach mixture.
- 23. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl.
- 24. Season the eggs with salt.
- 25. Season the eggs with pepper.
- 26. Season the eggs with grated nutmeg.
- 27. Stir the seasoned eggs into the spinach mixture.
- 28. Grate the cheese coarsely.
- 29. Drain the cooked Maultaschen well.
- 30. Divide the Maultaschen into thirds.
- 31. Spread the spinach mixture into a rectangular baking dish.
- 32. Use a dish of approx. 20 x 30 cm.
- 33. Arrange the Maultaschen pieces on top of the spinach mixture.
- 34. Press the Maultaschen slightly into the mixture.
- 35. Sprinkle the grated cheese over everything.
- 36. Preheat the oven.
- 37. Set the oven to Electric oven: 200 °C.
- 38. Or set it to Fan-assisted: 175 °C.
- 39. Or follow the Gas manufacturer's instructions.
- 40. Bake the casserole for about 25 minutes.
- 41. Place the remaining tomato cluster on top of the casserole after about 15 minutes of baking time.
- 42. Continue baking the casserole with the tomato cluster.
- 43. Remove the casserole from the oven.
- 44. Serve the casserole.
- 45. Sprinkle the casserole with coarse pepper.
