Ingredients
- 375 g flour
- 1 pkt. baking powder
- 250 g sugar
- 1 pkt. vanilla sugar
- 5 egg(s)
- 250 ml oil
- 125 ml water (warm)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- some powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- 1. Separate the eggs. You need the yolks and whites separately.
- 2. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar and vanilla sugar until creamy.
- 3. Stir the lukewarm water into the egg yolk mixture.
- 4. Add the oil and stir it in.
- 5. Mix the flour with the baking powder in a second bowl.
- 6. Gently fold the dry mixture into the egg yolk mixture.
- 7. Beat the egg whites until stiff.
- 8. Fold the egg whites in very carefully so the air does not escape.
- 9. Divide the batter into two equal parts.
- 10. Stir the cocoa powder into one of the two halves.
- 11. Check if the batter is liquid enough.
- 12. If the batter is too thick, stir in two tablespoons of water.
- 13. Grease a springform pan with a diameter of 26 centimeters.
- 14. Spoon three tablespoons of the light batter into the center of the pan.
- 15. Spoon three tablespoons of the chocolate batter into the center of the pan.
- 16. Repeat the alternating spooning until both batters are used up.
- 17. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 160 degrees Celsius fan-forced.
- 18. Bake the cake for about 50 to 60 minutes.
- 19. Let the cake cool in the pan.
- 20. Dust the cake with powdered sugar if desired.
- 21. Insert a wooden skewer into the center to test the baking time.
- 22. If the skewer comes out clean, the cake is done.
