🍽️ Fluffy Dinner Rolls

Ingredients
- 1 packet dry yeast (or half a cube fresh yeast)
- 500 g flour
- 1 tsp, level salt
- 55 g sugar
- 250 ml milk, lukewarm
- 2 egg yolks
- 70 g butter (melted)
- to taste oil (or butter for greasing the dish)
- 3 tbsp butter (melted)
Instructions
- 1. Put a portion of the sugar and some lukewarm milk into a small bowl.
- 2. Stir in the yeast.
- 3. Let the mixture stand for five minutes to activate the yeast.
- 4. Add the flour, remaining sugar, salt, melted butter, egg yolk, the yeast mixture, and the rest of the milk to a large bowl.
- 5. Knead the dough until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- 6. Shape the dough into a smooth ball.
- 7. Place the ball back into the bowl.
- 8. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
- 9. Place the bowl in a warm spot.
- 10. Let the dough rise for two hours.
- 11. Divide the risen dough into twelve equal pieces.
- 12. Shape the pieces into small balls.
- 13. Lightly grease a baking dish (approx. 30 x 20 cm).
- 14. Place the dough balls in the dish.
- 15. Cover the dish with plastic wrap again.
- 16. Let the rolls rise for another hour.
- 17. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius (convection setting).
- 18. Bake the rolls for 28 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
- 19. Brush the hot rolls with melted butter immediately after baking.
- 20. Serve the rolls warm.
- 21. Make sure to prepare them fresh and serve right away, as they dry out quickly.
- 22. Good companions are salads, meat, fish, or soups.
- 23. Note: These rolls are richer than standard bread rolls thanks to the egg yolk and butter.
- 24. They are slightly larger and definitely filling.
- 25. In taste, they resemble milk rolls or brioche.
