🥗 The Ultimate Caesar Salad

Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 0.75 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp pepper, black (freshly ground)
- 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 1 clove garlic (peeled and crushed)
- 0.5 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 anchovies (finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 100 ml olive oil (extra virgin)
- 2 romaine lettuce heads (washed, dried, cut into bite-sized pieces and chilled)
- 50 g parmesan (freshly grated)
- anchovies (4 anchovy strips for garnish)
- 1.5 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large clove garlic
- 100 g baguette (diced, or Italian white bread)
- 100 g parmesan (freshly grated)
Instructions
- 1. Boil the egg for two minutes in boiling water.
- 2. Let the egg cool down afterwards.
- 3. Peel the cooled egg.
- 4. Place the egg in a separate bowl.
- 5. Drizzle the egg with lemon juice.
- 6. Beat the egg until creamy using a hand blender.
- 7. Place salt, pepper, vinegar, garlic, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and the chopped anchovies in a large bowl.
- 8. Add the creamy egg mixture to the spices in the large bowl.
- 9. Beat the mixture further.
- 10. Gradually stir in the olive oil.
- 11. Heat 1.5 tablespoons of oil and the garlic in a frying pan.
- 12. Fry the garlic until it is golden brown.
- 13. Remove the garlic from the pan.
- 14. Add the bread cubes to the pan.
- 15. Fry the bread cubes over low heat for about 15 minutes.
- 16. Stir the bread cubes regularly while frying.
- 17. Fry the bread cubes until they are lightly browned.
- 18. Toss the finished croutons in grated Parmesan.
- 19. Add the salad to the dressing.
- 20. Add the Parmesan to the dressing.
- 21. Add the croutons to the dressing.
- 22. Mix everything gently.
- 23. Garnish the salad with strips of anchovies.
- 24. Garnish the salad with some coarsely grated Parmesan.
- 25. Serve the salad immediately.
