Ingredients
- 500 g yogurt, Greek
- 1 cucumber
- 4 garlic cloves (fresh)
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- 1. Stir the thick Greek yogurt vigorously until it becomes creamy.
- 2. Peel the cucumber.
- 3. Grate the cucumber coarsely or cut it into fine strips.
- 4. Sprinkle the grated or sliced cucumber with salt.
- 5. Let the salted cucumber sit until the juice comes out.
- 6. Peel the garlic cloves.
- 7. Press the garlic directly into the yogurt.
- 8. Place the cucumber in a clean kitchen towel.
- 9. Squeeze the juice out of the cucumber completely.
- 10. Add the drained cucumber to the yogurt.
- 11. Mix everything well.
- 12. Let the mixture rest for a short while.
- 13. Season the tzatziki carefully with salt and pepper at the end.
- 14. Serve the dip with gyros or with fresh, homemade bread.
