  1. 1. Stir the thick Greek yogurt vigorously until it becomes creamy.
  2. 2. Peel the cucumber.
  3. 3. Grate the cucumber coarsely or cut it into fine strips.
  4. 4. Sprinkle the grated or sliced cucumber with salt.
  5. 5. Let the salted cucumber sit until the juice comes out.
  6. 6. Peel the garlic cloves.
  7. 7. Press the garlic directly into the yogurt.
  8. 8. Place the cucumber in a clean kitchen towel.
  9. 9. Squeeze the juice out of the cucumber completely.
  10. 10. Add the drained cucumber to the yogurt.
  11. 11. Mix everything well.
  12. 12. Let the mixture rest for a short while.
  13. 13. Season the tzatziki carefully with salt and pepper at the end.
  14. 14. Serve the dip with gyros or with fresh, homemade bread.
