🍽️ Juicy Steak Sandwich with Caramelized Onions

Ingredients
- 4 small Onion(s) (red, approx. 240 g)
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Red wine vinegar
- Pepper
- 4 Rump Steak(s) (approx. 180 g each)
- Salt
- Baguette(s) (approx. 1-2)
- Mayonnaise
- Ghee (for frying)
Instructions
- 1. Take the steaks out of the fridge.
- 2. Peel the onions.
- 3. Cut the onions in half.
- 4. Slice the onions into thin strips.
- 5. Heat some oil in a small pot.
- 6. Sauté the onions in the pot until they are soft and translucent.
- 7. Add sugar, salt, and red wine vinegar.
- 8. Reduce the heat.
- 9. Cover the pot.
- 10. Let the mixture simmer for about 30 minutes.
- 11. Season the onion marmalade with pepper at the end.
- 12. Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
- 13. Heat some clarified butter in a pan.
- 14. Fry the steaks over high heat for about 2 to 4 minutes on each side.
- 15. Wrap the cooked steaks in aluminum foil to keep them warm.
- 16. Cut the baguette crosswise into four pieces.
- 17. Slice each piece lengthwise to create sandwich halves.
- 18. Spread mayonnaise on the inside of the top bread half.
- 19. Spread the onion marmalade on the bottom half.
- 20. Slice the steaks thinly.
- 21. Place the steak slices on the sandwiches.
- 22. Close the sandwiches.
- 23. Enjoy the sandwiches.
