🍽️ Indian Naan Bread

Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 150 ml milk, lukewarm
- 2.5 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp dry yeast
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 150 ml whole milk yogurt (lightly beaten)
- 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
- salt
- flour (for rolling out)
Instructions
- 1. Pour the milk into a bowl.
- 2. Stir in the half tablespoon of sugar and the dry yeast.
- 3. Place the bowl in a warm spot.
- 4. Let the mixture stand for about 20 minutes.
- 5. Wait until the yeast has dissolved and the liquid becomes foamy.
- 6. Put the flour into a large bowl.
- 7. Mix in the half teaspoon of salt and baking powder.
- 8. Add the remaining two tablespoons of sugar.
- 9. Pour in the milk with the dissolved yeast.
- 10. Add the vegetable oil to the bowl.
- 11. Add the lightly beaten yogurt.
- 12. Add the lightly beaten egg.
- 13. Knead the ingredients well for about 10 minutes.
- 14. Work the dough until it is smooth and pliable.
- 15. Put the quarter teaspoon of oil into a clean bowl.
- 16. Roll the dough ball in the oil.
- 17. Make sure the ball is coated with oil.
- 18. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
- 19. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- 20. Wait until the dough has doubled in size.
- 21. Knead the dough once more briefly.
- 22. Divide the dough into 6 equal-sized balls.
- 23. Cover the balls with a cloth.
- 24. Take one dough ball.
- 25. Sprinkle some flour on the work surface.
- 26. Roll the ball out thinly.
- 27. Shape the flatbread either in a teardrop shape or round.
- 28. In the gas oven, turn the large flame to full power.
- 29. Heat a crepe pan or another large non-stick pan very hot.
- 30. Refrain from using fat when heating.
- 31. Wait until the pan is really hot.
- 32. Place the flatbread in the hot pan.
- 33. Cook the flatbread on one side until it bubbles.
- 34. Turn the flatbread briefly.
- 35. Be careful that it does not burn quickly.
- 36. Cook the other side briefly until browned.
- 37. Serve the naan breads warm.
- 38. Wrap the finished dough balls in plastic wrap.
- 39. Let the balls thaw for about 1 hour.
- 40. Loosen the foil before thawing.
- 41. Place the balls on the heater to thaw.
