  4. 4. Sauté the onions and garlic briefly in the hot oil.
  5. 5. Add the minced meat.
  6. 6. Fry the meat until it crumbles into small pieces.
  7. 7. Cook the mushrooms along with the meat.
  8. 8. Deglaze everything with the puréed tomatoes.
  9. 9. Stir the cream into the mixture.
  10. 10. Bring the sauce to a boil.
  11. 11. Season the sauce to your taste.
  12. 12. Let the sauce simmer for 30 minutes over low heat.
  13. 13. Stir the sauce occasionally while it cooks.
  14. 14. Add the ham to the sauce.
  15. 15. Taste the sauce again and adjust the seasoning.
  16. 16. Cook the rigatoni in salted water until very al dente (about 5 minutes).
