  1. 1. Put cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and pepper into a large freezer bag (approx. 3 liters).
  2. 2. Cut the tofu (do not pat it dry first) into small cubes of about 0.5 cm.
  3. 3. Add the tofu cubes to the bag as well.
  4. 4. Seal the bag well and shake it vigorously.
  5. 5. Shake until all tofu cubes are evenly coated with the starch.
  6. 6. If necessary, add about half a tablespoon of starch, as the amount depends on the type of tofu.
  7. 7. Tip: You can use a lidded jar instead of a bag.
  8. 8. Heat some oil in a non-stick pan.
  9. 9. Fry the tofu cubes over high heat on all sides until golden brown.
  10. 10. Then place them on kitchen paper to absorb excess oil.
  11. 11. Use as desired.
  12. 12. Note: If a recipe calls for fried tofu, I always prepare it this way.
  13. 13. Add the tofu only at the very end of the dish so it stays warm but does not become soggy.
  14. 14. Optional: You can also mix spices like paprika, curry, turmeric, coriander, or chili directly into the tofu.
