  1. 1. Thoroughly wash the savoy cabbage under running water.
  2. 2. Cut the savoy cabbage into thin strips.
  3. 3. Cut the smoked pork into small cubes.
  4. 4. Peel the onions.
  5. 5. Slice the onions into rings.
  6. 6. Heat some oil in a large pan.
  7. 7. Fry the onion rings until golden brown.
  8. 8. Remove the fried onions from the pan and set them aside.
  9. 9. Add the savoy cabbage to the remaining fat in the pan.
  10. 10. Sauté the savoy cabbage briefly.
  11. 11. Pour some broth into the pan.
  12. 12. Add the smoked pork to the pan.
  13. 13. Add the fried onions back into the pan.
  14. 14. Place a lid on the pan.
  15. 15. Let the mixture cook for about 20 minutes.
  16. 16. Stir the potato dumplings into the mixture.
  17. 17. Stir the sour cream into the mixture.
  18. 18. Season the mixture with mustard to taste.
  19. 19. Season the mixture with lovage to taste.
  20. 20. Season the mixture with salt to taste.
  21. 21. Season the mixture with pepper to taste.
  22. 22. Season the mixture with cumin to taste.
  23. 23. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish measuring 20 x 30 cm.
  24. 24. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over the mixture.

  27. 27. Bake the gratin for about 25 to 30 minutes.
