🍽️ Crispy Cheesy Potato Gratin

Ingredients
- 1 kg potatoes
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- 150 g processed cheese
- 0.25 Liter cream
- 0.125 Liter milk
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1 tbsp butter
- 100 g cheese, grated (Gouda or Emmental)
- 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
Instructions
- 1. Peel the potatoes.
- 2. Slice the potatoes into thin rounds.
- 3. Grease a baking dish with some fat.
- 4. Arrange the potato slices in overlapping layers in the dish.
- 5. Season the potato layers with salt and pepper.
- 6. Whisk the processed cheese portion with the cream and milk until smooth.
- 7. Add a pinch of salt and ground nutmeg to the cheese-milk mixture.
- 8. Pour the liquid mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- 9. Distribute butter flakes evenly on the surface.
- 10. Sprinkle grated cheese over the gratin.
- 11. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- 12. Preheat the oven to 220 °C conventional heat.
- 13. Bake the gratin in the oven for about 60 minutes.
- 14. Remove the aluminum foil shortly before the end of the baking time.
- 15. Continue baking until the surface is golden brown and crispy.
- 16. Sprinkle the finished dish with fresh parsley.
- 17. Serve the gratin hot.
- 18. Stir in finely chopped garlic into the potato mixture if desired before placing it in the dish.
