🍽️ Classic Swedish Meatballs with Creamy Sauce

Ingredients
- 500 g ground beef (or moose meat)
- 1 onion(s)
- 1 medium-sized egg(s)
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp spice mix (Piffi Allkrydda, similar to steak grill seasoning)
- 50 g butter for frying
- 200 g whipping cream
- 100 ml water
- 1 tsp flour
- 1 pinch(es) sugar
- Salt
- Pepper
- Spice mix (Piffi Allkrydda)
- 1 jar lingonberries
- 500 g potatoes, floury
- to taste butter (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Place the minced meat in a medium bowl.
- 2. Peel the onion and cut it into very fine cubes.
- 3. Add the onion cubes, the egg, the breadcrumbs, and the spices to the meat.
- 4. Mix all ingredients thoroughly with your hands or a spoon.
- 5. Wet a large plate with a little water.
- 6. Moisten your hands slightly so the meat does not stick.
- 7. Take small portions of the meat mixture and roll them into small balls.
- 8. Preheat the oven to 100 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 9. Heat the butter in a large pan.
- 10. Fry the meatballs on all sides until they are brown.
- 11. Remove the browned balls from the pan.
- 12. Place the meatballs in a bowl.
- 13. Place the bowl with the balls in the preheated oven to keep them warm.
- 14. Deglaze the cooking fat in the pan with a little water.
- 15. Stir the cream into the pan while stirring constantly.
- 16. Let the sauce come to a boil briefly.
- 17. Mix the flour with a little cold water to form a smooth mixture.
- 18. Add the flour mixture to the boiling cream sauce to thicken it.
- 19. Season the sauce with the remaining spices.
- 20. Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters.
- 21. Boil the potato pieces in boiling salted water for about 20 minutes.
- 22. Drain the cooking water.
- 23. Add a small piece of butter to the hot potatoes.
- 24. Place the pot with the potatoes back on the stove.
- 25. Turn off the stove burner.
- 26. Place a clean kitchen towel between the pot and the lid.
- 27. Let the potatoes steam in the pot with the towel.
- 28. Take the meatballs out of the oven.
- 29. Do not place the meatballs directly into the sauce.
- 30. Serve the meatballs, the sauce, and the potatoes separately on the plate.
