🍽️ Chili con Carne – absolutely delicious

Ingredients
- 2 large onion(s)
- 1 clove(s) garlic
- oil for frying
- 2 chili pepper(s), red
- 1 tsp, heaped cumin powder
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 800 g ground beef
- 3 can(s) tomatoes, peeled (approx. 400 g each)
- 1 cinnamon stick(s)
- salt and pepper
- 2 can(s) kidney beans (approx. 400 g each)
- Sambal Oelek (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Dice the onions and garlic into small cubes.
- 2. Heat oil in a large pan or pot.
- 3. Fry the onions and garlic in the hot oil for 5 minutes until soft.
- 4. Add the finely chopped chili peppers (including seeds), cumin, and chili powder.
- 5. Sauté the spices and vegetables for another 2 minutes.
- 6. Add the ground beef.
- 7. Fry the meat over high heat until it breaks into small crumbles.
- 8. Stir in the canned tomatoes and the cinnamon stick.
- 9. Season the mixture generously with salt and pepper.
- 10. Let the mixture simmer on medium heat for 90 minutes.
- 11. Stir the chili occasionally.
- 12. Add the beans 30 minutes before the end of the cooking time.
- 13. Taste the chili at the end and add Sambal Oelek if you prefer it spicier.
- 14. Serve the chili con carne with white bread and a dollop of plain yogurt or guacamole.
- 15. It tastes even better if you prepare the chili con carne the day before.
