Ingredients
- 125 g margarine or butter (soft)
- 125 g sugar
- 3 egg(s)
- 0.5 packet baking powder
- 250 g flour
- 1.5 kg apples (peeled, cored)
- fat for the pan
- lots of butter (for brushing)
- lots of sugar (or cinnamon sugar)
Instructions
- 1. Mix margarine or butter, sugar, eggs, baking powder, and flour into a smooth batter. Cut the apples into large pieces (for example, eighths) and gently fold them into the batter. Pour the mixture into a greased 26-centimeter springform pan and smooth the top.
- 2. Bake the cake in the preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat on the lower rack for about 50 to 55 minutes. After 45 minutes, brush the cake generously with butter and sprinkle plenty of sugar or a cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- 3. If the cake is browning too quickly, simply cover it with baking paper for the remaining baking time.
- 4. The cake tastes delicious, is extremely juicy, and pairs perfectly with whipped cream. It may seem like there is too much batter relative to the apples, but do not worry. The batter works its way through the apples and mainly serves to hold them together.
