  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat. If you use the convection fan setting, set the oven to 160 degrees Celsius.
  2. 2. Line a baking sheet with baking paper.
  3. 3. Place the 24 waffle cups on the prepared tray.
  4. 4. Beat the soft butter (or margarine) with a mixer until creamy.
  5. 5. Gradually add the sugar and vanilla sugar.
  6. 6. Stir until the mixture is firm.
  7. 7. Add each egg individually.
  8. 8. Beat each egg on high speed for about half a minute.
  9. 9. Mix the flour with the baking powder.
  10. 10. Sift the flour mixture.
  11. 11. Stir the flour mixture into the batter briefly on medium speed.
  12. 12. Fill a piping bag with a star tip.
  13. 13. Fill the waffle cups about two-thirds full with the batter.
  14. 14. Place the tray on the middle rack in the oven.
  15. 15. Bake the cakes in the hot oven for about 15 minutes.
  16. 16. Let the cakes cool down afterwards.
  17. 17. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler.
  18. 18. Dip the top of the small cakes into the melted chocolate.
  19. 19. Sprinkle colorful sprinkles, shredded coconut, or chopped almonds onto the warm chocolate.
