🍽️ The Ultimate Chili con Carne

Ingredients
- 600 g ground beef
- 1 onion(s)
- 0.5 vegetable onion(s)
- 2 clove(s) garlic
- 300 g tomatoes, peeled ((can), with the juice)
- 500 g kidney beans
- 1 bell pepper(s), red
- 1 bell pepper(s), yellow
- 2 chili pepper(s) (red)
- 250 g peas
- 250 g corn
- 3 piece(s) dark chocolate (min. 70% cocoa content)
- to taste salt and pepper
- to taste paprika powder, sweet
- to taste paprika powder, hot
- to taste olive oil (robust)
- to taste cumin powder
- to taste coriander powder
- to taste oregano
- to taste vegetable bouillon powder
- to taste lemon juice
Instructions
- 1. Finely chop the onions.
- 2. Heat plenty of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- 3. Sweat the onions in the oil until they are soft and translucent.
- 4. Add the minced meat to the pan.
- 5. Fry the meat until it breaks into small crumbles.
- 6. Peel the garlic.
- 7. Crush the garlic using the flat side of a knife.
- 8. Add the crushed garlic to the meat.
- 9. Add the canned tomatoes including their juice to the pan.
- 10. Crush the tomatoes in the pan with a spoon.
- 11. Season the mixture with the spices and chili peppers (including seeds).
- 12. Let everything simmer for about 20 minutes over medium to high heat.
- 13. Remove the seeds and white pith from the bell peppers.
- 14. Cut the bell peppers into small cubes.
- 15. Add the pepper cubes to the pan.
- 16. Chop the chocolate finely.
- 17. Add the chocolate pieces to the pan.
- 18. Stir all ingredients well until they combine.
- 19. Simmer the chili for another 10 minutes.
- 20. Add the kidney beans, corn, and peas to the pan.
- 21. Simmer the dish for another 10 minutes.
- 22. Season the chili again with the spices.
- 23. Serve the chili hot.
- 24. Serve the chili with bread and sour cream (or a similar cream).
- 25. Note: Bread and sour cream help reduce the spiciness.
- 26. Skip the sour cream if you prefer it very spicy.
