🍰 Grandma's Classic Pound Cake

Ingredients
- 250 g Butter
- 250 g Sugar
- 1 packet Vanilla Sugar
- 5 Egg(s)
- 500 g Flour
- 1 packet Baking Powder
- 0.25 Liter Milk
- Fat and Breadcrumbs for the pan
- Icing Sugar (or Chocolate Coating)
Instructions
- 1. Take all ingredients out of the fridge or cupboard about one hour before you start baking. They must all be at room temperature.
- 2. Beat the butter together with sugar and vanilla sugar until fluffy.
- 3. Add each egg to the butter mixture one by one. Beat each one well for about one minute to keep the cake light.
- 4. Mix the baking powder with the flour.
- 5. Add the flour mixture and the milk alternately to the egg-butter mixture.
- 6. Mix everything well, but make sure the batter does not become too liquid. It should have a normal consistency.
- 7. Do not beat the batter for too long. This keeps it light and gives it a fine crumb.
- 8. Grease a Bundt cake pan and sprinkle breadcrumbs inside.
- 9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- 10. Preheat the oven to 180 to 200 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 11. Bake the cake for about 60 minutes.
- 12. Take the cake out of the oven after baking.
- 13. Let the cake cool in the pan for ten minutes.
- 14. Turn the cake out of the pan.
- 15. Dust the warm cake immediately with powdered sugar.
- 16. You can also decorate the cake with icing or chocolate.
- 17. For a nut cake, replace 200 grams of flour with 200 grams of ground almonds and 200 grams of ground hazelnuts.
- 18. For a marble cake, fill two thirds of the batter into the pan.
- 19. Mix the remaining third with cocoa and a small splash of milk.
- 20. Distribute the chocolate mixture evenly over the light batter.
- 21. Bake the cake as usual.
- 22. As a milk alternative, you can use slightly more than a quarter liter of egg liqueur.
- 23. For a pudding cake, put half of the batter into the pan.
- 24. Spread a homemade pudding on top.
- 25. Add the remaining half of the batter on top and bake the cake.
