Ingredients
- 250g Beef (thinly sliced)
- 3 EL Soy sauce
- 1 EL Sugar
- 2 Zehen Garlic (minced)
- 1 EL Ginger (grated)
- 1 EL Sesame oil
- 2 Spring onions (sliced)
- 1 EL Sesame seeds
Instructions
- 1. Pat the beef dry with paper towels. Never wash it, or it will steam instead of sear.
- 2. Add 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon sugar, the sesame oil, the grated ginger, and the chopped garlic to a bowl.
- 3. Stir the marinade with a spoon until the sugar completely dissolves.
- 4. Place the dry beef in the marinade and turn it to coat every slice.
- 5. Let the beef marinate for 20 minutes to make it tender and flavorful.
- 6. Slice the 2 spring onions into thin rings. Set them aside for garnish.
- 7. Heat a large frying pan (28 cm) over medium heat (level 5 of 9).
- 8. Add the beef and the remaining marinade to the hot pan. It will splatter a lot.
- 9. Sear the beef for 3 minutes until it browns on the bottom. Don’t stir, or it will steam.
- 10. Flip the beef once to color the other side.
- 11. Cook for another 2 minutes until the beef is cooked through and juicy. Don’t overcook, or it will become tough.
- 12. Remove the finished Bulgogi from the pan and place it on a plate. Let it rest for 2 minutes.
- 13. Sprinkle the beef with the spring onion rings and sesame seeds.
- 14. Serve the Bulgogi immediately with rice. It’s perfect when the beef is tender but not dry.
