Ingredients
- 400g Firm tofu
- 2 EL Sesame seeds
- 2 EL Soy sauce
- 1 EL Canola oil
- 2 Zehen Garlic
- 1 EL Lemon juice
Instructions
- 1. Place the tofu in a strainer and let it drain for 15 minutes. This removes excess water for a crispy crust.
- 2. Cut the tofu into slices 1 cm thick. Ensure even thickness for even cooking.
- 3. Press the 2 garlic cloves through a press or chop them finely. Freshly pressed tastes best.
- 4. Combine the 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rapeseed oil, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice in a bowl. Stir in the garlic.
- 5. Place the tofu slices in the marinade and gently turn them. Make sure each side is well coated.
- 6. Sprinkle the tofu slices with the 2 tablespoons sesame seeds. Press the sesame seeds lightly so they stick.
- 7. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes and provides immediate heat.
- 8. Place the tofu slices in the air fryer basket. Lay them flat next to each other, without overlapping.
- 9. Bake the tofu at 180 °C for about 15 minutes. Cook until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
- 10. Flip the tofu after half the cooking time (about 7-8 minutes). This ensures each side browns evenly.
- 11. Let the tofu sit in the basket for 2 minutes. This allows the heat to finish cooking and the crust to set.
- 12. Remove the tofu and check the texture. It should feel firm and not mushy.
- 13. Serve the tofu warm on a plate. It’s perfect when it’s crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside.
