  1. 1. Heat the milk with sugar, lemon zest, and cinnamon stick in a pot. Let it simmer gently for 10 minutes until aromatic.
  2. 2. Dip the bread slices one by one into the hot milk until soft but not falling apart. Remove them and let excess milk drip off.
  3. 3. Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat.
  4. 4. Fry the soaked bread slices in the pan until golden brown and crispy on both sides (about 2 minutes per side).
  5. 5. Remove the slices and roll them lightly in powdered sugar.
  6. 6. Spread the slices thinly with the remaining sweet milk pudding left in the pot. Dust with cinnamon.
  7. 7. Serve the toasts warm or at room temperature.
