🍞 Poor Knights Rice Pudding Toast

Ingredients
- 8 Scheiben Stale white bread (cut into 2 cm thick slices)
- 500 ml Milk
- 80 g Sugar
- 1 Stück Lemon zest (in long strips)
- 1 Stück Cinnamon stick
- 1 EL Cinnamon (for dusting)
- 30 g Butter (for frying)
- 20 g Powdered sugar
Instructions
- 1. Heat the milk with sugar, lemon zest, and cinnamon stick in a pot. Let it simmer gently for 10 minutes until aromatic.
- 2. Dip the bread slices one by one into the hot milk until soft but not falling apart. Remove them and let excess milk drip off.
- 3. Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat.
- 4. Fry the soaked bread slices in the pan until golden brown and crispy on both sides (about 2 minutes per side).
- 5. Remove the slices and roll them lightly in powdered sugar.
- 6. Spread the slices thinly with the remaining sweet milk pudding left in the pot. Dust with cinnamon.
- 7. Serve the toasts warm or at room temperature.
