Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C. This takes about 3 minutes.
  2. 2. Pat the tuna fillets dry with paper towels. Never wash them, or the fish will become mushy.
  3. 3. Season the fillets with half the salt and the pepper. Rub both sides.
  4. 4. Dice the avocado into small cubes. Remove the pit and peel it first.
  5. 5. Break the grapefruit into small pieces. Remove the pulp from the membranes.
  6. 6. Finely chop the onion and the 2 garlic cloves. Don't chop them too small, or the garlic will burn.
  7. 7. Juice the lime. Mix the juice with the olive oil, the remaining salt, and the remaining pepper.
  8. 8. Combine the avocado, grapefruit, and onions with the dressing mixture. Serve immediately.
  9. 9. Place the tuna steaks in the air fryer. Fry them for 4 minutes at 200 °C. Flip them after 2 minutes.
  10. 10. Fry the second side for another 2 minutes. The fish should still be pink inside.
  11. 11. Remove the steaks and let them rest for 2 minutes. This keeps the juices in the meat.
  12. 12. Slice the steaks into thick slices. Serve them with the avocado-citrus salad. The fish is perfect when it’s pink and juicy.
