Ingredients
- 200g Tempeh
- 2 EL Soy Sauce
- 1 EL Canola Oil
- 2 Zehen Garlic
- 1 EL, fein gehackt Ginger
- 1 TL Chili Flakes
- 1 TL Sugar
- 1 EL Lime Juice
Instructions
- 1. Cut the tempeh into slices 1 cm thick. Important: Don't rinse it, just pat it dry to avoid germs.
- 2. Finely chop the 2 cloves of garlic. Make sure the pieces are small so they don't burn.
- 3. Also finely chop the ginger. This distributes the flavour evenly in the marinade.
- 4. Place the tempeh slices in a bowl. Lay them flat next to each other so they have space.
- 5. Pour 2 tablespoons of soy sauce over the tempeh. Liquid penetrates better than dry powder.
- 6. Add 1 tablespoon of rapeseed oil. The fat will create a nice browning in the air fryer later.
- 7. Sprinkle the finely chopped garlic, ginger, chilli flakes and sugar over the top.
- 8. Gently turn the slices until they are marinated all over. Make sure each side is covered.
- 9. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This is the medium setting for a crispy result.
- 10. Place the tempeh slices in the air fryer basket. Make sure they don't touch.
- 11. Cook the tempeh for 10 minutes at 180 °C, until the edges are golden brown.
- 12. Shake the basket vigorously to turn the slices. This makes all sides crispy evenly.
- 13. Cook the tempeh for another 10 minutes at 180 °C. The surface should now be golden brown and firm.
- 14. Mix the lime juice, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, chilli and sugar in a small bowl.
- 15. Remove the tempeh and let it rest for 2 minutes. This allows the heat to distribute evenly.
- 16. Arrange the tempeh on a plate. It's ready when the edges crackle when crispy.
