Ingredients
- 100g Gruyère
- 100g Cornflakes
- 30g Butter
- 1 TL Paprika Powder
- 1 TL Salt
Instructions
- 1. Cut the Gruyère cheese into small, about 1 cm cubes. Important: Don't cut it too small, so it doesn't burn immediately.
- 2. Cut the 30 g butter into 4 equal pieces. This helps it melt faster and more evenly.
- 3. Put the butter pieces into a small saucepan and melt it over medium heat. Stir until the butter is liquid and foamy.
- 4. Add the 100 g cornflakes to the melted butter. Turn them immediately, so each flake is thinly coated.
- 5. Sprinkle 1 tsp paprika and 1 tsp salt over the flakes. Stir vigorously until the seasoning sticks everywhere.
- 6. Put the seasoned cornflakes into a large bowl. Spread them out flat, so they don't lie too close together.
- 7. Sprinkle the 100 g Gruyère cubes evenly over the warm cornflakes. Save the remaining cheese for later in the air fryer.
- 8. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes. Hot air is important for crispiness.
- 9. Put the mixture into the air fryer basket. Make sure it isn't stacked too high, so the air can circulate.
- 10. Cook the popcorn in the air fryer at 180 °C for 5 minutes. Turn the mixture thoroughly after 2.5 minutes.
- 11. Take the basket out and shake the popcorn vigorously. This distributes the melted cheese threads evenly.
- 12. Let the popcorn rest in the basket for 2 minutes. This makes the cheese firm and crispy instead of sticky.
- 13. Put the finished cheese popcorn into a large bowl. It’s perfect when it’s golden brown and crunchy.
