Ingredients
- 400g Firm tofu
- 2 EL Cornstarch
- 1 EL Sesame oil
- 2 EL Sesame seeds
- 2 EL Soy sauce
- 2 Zehen Garlic
- 1 EL, gehackt Ginger
- 1 TL Sugar
Instructions
- 1. Cut the tofu into 1 cm thick cubes. Tip: The more uniform, the more even the result.
- 2. Pat the tofu cubes dry with paper towels. Important: Don't rinse them, or they'll become mushy.
- 3. Put the cubes in a bowl and sprinkle with 2 tbsp cornstarch. Shake well.
- 4. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes. Preheating is essential for crispiness.
- 5. Place the tofu cubes in the air fryer basket. Spread them in a single layer.
- 6. Brush the cubes with 1 tbsp sesame oil. This will make them golden brown instead of dry.
- 7. Fry the tofu for 10 minutes at 180 °C. Turn the cubes after 5 minutes for even browning, until they are golden brown.
- 8. Finely chop the 2 garlic cloves. Caution: Don't let them burn, or it will become bitter.
- 9. Finely chop the ginger. Add 1 tbsp chopped ginger to the sauce bowl.
- 10. Mix the 2 tbsp soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and 1 tsp sugar in a small bowl.
- 11. Toast the 2 tbsp sesame seeds in a hot pan for 2 minutes until fragrant. Don't burn them!
- 12. Remove the crispy tofu from the air fryer. It should feel firm and be golden brown.
- 13. Pour the sesame sauce over the hot tofu. Gently toss until everything is shiny and coated.
- 14. Sprinkle the tofu with the toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately to keep it crispy.
