Ingredients
- 400g Firm tofu
- 2 EL Soy sauce
- 1 EL Rice vinegar
- 1 EL Honey
- 2 Zehen Garlic
- 1 EL, gerieben Ginger
- 1 TL Chili powder
- 1 TL Sugar
- 2 EL Olive oil
Instructions
- 1. Place the tofu on a cutting board and pat it dry with paper towels. Never wash it, as that spreads germs.
- 2. Cut the tofu into even slices that are 1 cm thick. This ensures even browning.
- 3. Pour 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of honey into a small bowl.
- 4. Mince 2 cloves of garlic finely and grate 1 tablespoon of ginger directly into the bowl.
- 5. Add 1 teaspoon of chili powder and 1 teaspoon of sugar to the bowl.
- 6. Stir the sauce vigorously until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- 7. Place the tofu slices in the sauce and turn them to coat all sides.
- 8. Let the tofu marinate for 10 minutes so it absorbs flavor.
- 9. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes.
- 10. Remove the tofu from the sauce and place it in the air fryer basket. Set the remaining sauce aside.
- 11. Brush the tofu slices thinly with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. This makes them crispy.
- 12. Fry the tofu for 15 minutes at 180 °C, until the edges are golden brown and crispy. Flip the slices after 7.5 minutes for even color.
- 13. Pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil for 2 minutes.
- 14. Pour the hot sauce over the cooked tofu. Never add raw marinade to the finished dish.
- 15. Serve the tofu immediately. It’s perfect when the edges are golden brown and crispy.
