- 1 Egg
- 1 Onion
- 2 Garlic Clove
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 TL Pepper
- 2 EL Tomato Paste
- 400g (Dose) Tomatoes
- 2 EL Olive Oil
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes.
- 2. Peel the onion and dice it finely.
- 3. Peel the 2 garlic cloves and chop them finely.
- 4. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large frying pan (28 cm).
- 5. Sauté the onion cubes for about 3 minutes, until they are translucent.
- 6. Add the chopped garlic and fry it for 1 minute, until fragrant.
- 7. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool.
- 8. Place the 500g ground beef in a large bowl.
- 9. Add the 100g panko breadcrumbs, the egg, the cooled onion-garlic mixture, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper.
- 10. Knead the ingredients together with your hands to form a smooth mass.
- 11. Shape 12 equal-sized meatballs (about 40g each).
- 12. Place the meatballs in the air fryer basket, without touching each other.
- 13. Cook the meatballs in the air fryer at 180 °C for 12 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they are golden brown.
- 14. Fry the 2 tablespoons tomato paste in the same frying pan for 1 minute, until it is dark red.
- 15. Deglaze with the 400g can of tomatoes and stir.
- 16. Let the sauce simmer on medium heat (5 out of 9) for 5 minutes, until it thickens.
- 17. Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and gently turn them.
- 18. Let the meatballs steep in the warm sauce for 2 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- 19. Serve the meatballs in the sauce. It’s perfect when the meatballs are firm and the sauce is thick and glossy.
